Embracing the Shift: Why I’m Finally Proud to Age Gracefully
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about my own journey. Not just about vanity, but about the deeper shift that happens when we finally step into our own power as mature women.
THE FINALIST IN THE ROOM
When I was named a finalist for the WASSABA Spa Therapist of the Year, I’ll admit I felt a bit uncomfortable walking into the Ritz Carlton. Surrounded by so many beautiful, young people, it was easy to feel out of my element.
But rather than letting that diminish the night, I chose to focus on the incredible talent in the room. I was genuinely honoured to be a finalist, and I spent the evening madly cheering for my friends and peers who had done such an amazing job bringing WASSABA to life. It wasn't about winning; it was about celebrating our shared passion.
THE INVISIBLE SHIFT
We’ve all experienced it. I remember going to a bar with my girlfriend recently. We were waiting to get served, and the bartenders kept serving the lovely, younger girls before us.
At first, I thought, “What’s going on here? How odd.” I had never really known what it felt like to be overlooked. But then it hit me: you don’t realize how much space you take up until the dynamic shifts.
But here’s the thing, I think things are changing for the better.
SHOWING UP FOR OURSELVES
I don't want to chase youth? It’s unrealistic, I want to look and feel well. I want to love where I am. I want to age gracefully and be fiercely proud of the fact that I am a mother and a grandmother.
Experience, education, and authenticity are gaining momentum. There is a beautiful movement happening right now where real women are showing up, telling the world of advertisers to "get stuffed," and redefining what it means to age well.
GIVING BACK TO YOU
As a thank you to this amazing community, and to celebrate the real women who inspire me every day, I want to give back. I’m excited to be hosting a special giveaway on Instagram tomorrow ( Friday 30th October) this gift will be for a facial, a 75-minute personalised treatment.
It’s my way of helping you take a moment for yourself, to feel seen, and to celebrate exactly where you are.
It’s about sharing my win, celebrating the WAssaba award of Spa therapist of the year, it celebrated my experienced professional, authentic self. And I’ve never been prouder to be exactly who I am.
