Believe the Hype

What is Dermapen™microneedling?

All your questions answered

Unsurprisingly, we get asked a lot of questions about Dermapen™ microneedling. The number one of which is... *drumroll please*

“What is it?”

The short answer is that Dermapen™ microneedling is an effective, popular and minimally invasive procedure. It addresses a wide range of skin concerns, not just lines and wrinkles; although, it does reduce the signs of ageing too.

A lot of the confusion comes from the information and misinformation on the Internet, which makes it hard to separate facts from fiction.

That’s why this week we’re going beyond the claims and opinions, to give you the holistic answer to what Dermapen™ microneedling is.

The earliest use of therapeutic skin needling can be traced back thousands of years to ancient China. Fast forward to 1995, and cosmetic needling began its rapid timeline of innovation.

Australian medical developer and DermapenWorld CEO Stene Marshall introduced Dermapen to the world in 2010. It revolutionised the microneedling market. Dermapen is backed by years of research and prototypes to offer far superior design, comfort, versatility and results.

Over 3 million Dermapen Treatments have now been performed worldwide. With the DermapenWorld family of products, you are investing in quality and safety for your skin.

The micro-injuries caused by the treatment stimulate the production of collagen as your skin heals. Acne, trauma, pigmentation and a range of other ailments can cause blemishes on your skin. Ageing causes your skin to thin, sag and wrinkle.

Dermapen microneedling simply activates the skin’s natural self-rejuvenating function. A new layer of fresh tissue forms, creating a more youthful appearance on the surface and fighting antibodies underneath.

These small punctures also allow active ingredients in topical creams to penetrate deeper for intense rejuvenation.

Is Skin Needling and Dermapen Microneedling the Same?

Yes, Dermapen microneedling has many different names, which can make it confusing when selecting a treatment.

Other terms for microneedling include:

  • Percutaneous Collagen Induction (P.C.I.)

  • Collagen Induction Therapy (C.I.T.)

  • Scar Rejuvenation Therapy (S.R.T.), and

  • Skin needling

Acne and acne scarring

Skincare is a top priority for most celebrities because they spend so much time in the spotlight. From Jennifer Aniston to the Kardashian sisters, more celebrities are discovering how cutting-edge microneedling treatments offer them younger-looking skin

Gwyneth Paltrow and Kourtney Kardashian are among the many celebrity enthusiasts of microneedling because of the amazing skin improvements they receive in a quick 20-minute treatment.

At Sole Revival Skin & Body Clinic, Perth’s certified master needling clinician Jules O’Driscoll ( BA Hons Complimentary Healthcare ) expertly creates hundreds of tiny injuries to the surface layer of your skin using a safe and controllable handheld needle device. This prompts your body to produce new collagen and elastin, the basic building blocks of younger-looking, vibrant skin.

The Dermapen 4 Micro Needling is Sole Revival’s premium anti-ageing treatment & is known for stimulating collagen and elastin.
Cue glowing skin... it can also dramatically reduce scarring, blackheads, open pores, age lines, pigmentation and so much more.

Dermapen4

Dermapen4

Mesotherapy treatment is the delivery of small quantities of active ingredients (such as retinol) directly to the area of the skin where they are needed (we use the micro channels provided by needling to deliver deeper penetration).

We combine needling, mesotherapy, and hyaluronic hydration mask to maximise results for you. We also include a vitamin enriched moisture application and a cover recover sun block shield to further enhance and protect your skin.
We recommend a return appointment 10-14 days later for a follow up personalised facial peel & additional Mask treatment to further maximise your results.

As new collagen keeps forming, your skin looks plumper and healthier. Added fullness smooths out signs of aging, including wrinkles and fine lines.

You can choose microneedling treatment by itself to achieve your skin goals, or you can include it a series of facials treatments each one individually created for you to address your specific skin issues. Such as wrinkles, lines, aged skin, open pores, uneven skin tone, pigmentation, scars, weak or sick skin.

It’s not just for women

While female celebrities such as Angelina Jolie have talked about the positive outcome of microneedling, male celebs, including Jolie’s ex, Brad Pitt, are also known to undergo the procedure to rejuvenate their skin and reverse the signs of aging.

Due to the minimally invasive nature of the treatment, many male actors and on-screen personalities are turning to microneedling to keep their skin in tip-top condition with very little downtime or recovery.

Microneedling benefits

Microneedling is effective at boosting your body’s natural production of collagen to provide fullness and volume to skin.

As new collagen grows, you can expect benefits like:

  • Less visible acne scars

  • Skin that’s free of wrinkles and fine lines

  • Reduction in stretch marks

Microneedling treatments are great for your face but can also be used effectively on your neck, hands, or anywhere that could benefit from added volume and thicker, more vibrant skin.

It’s not just for celebs

While those in front of the camera have incentive to hang on to their youthful looks, microneedling isn’t just for celebrities. As you age, there will come a time when wrinkles and fine lines start to make you look older than you are.

Not everyone ages the same, so If your cursed with having spent to much time in the sun or just plain old bad genes then it may be time to do something about it.  At Sole Revival Skin & Body Clinic, we can work with you to help you with your skin goals, including getting glowing healthy skin.

Proven Ways to Get Rid of Dark Circles Under Your Eyes

Deep purple, blue or brown patches to the inside or under your eyes make you look more tired and older than you are.

The good news is that no genies or spells are required to lighten and brighten your eyes.

What Causes Dark Circles Under Eyes?

The skin under your eyes is different from the rest of your face as it contains less collagen and oil glands. Paying attention to this area before you notice any darkness or wrinkles will pay dividends later on.

That’s because, over time, your skin loses the ability to produce collagen, resulting in thinner, more transparent skin. In this case, your skin isn’t changing colour, but the blood vessels under your eyes stand out more prominently. Doing what you can to boost collagen and plump the skin keeps dark circles at bay.

However, dark patches can also be the result of hyperpigmentation. In which case, regulating the production of pigment is your aim.

Some of the causes of dark circles include:

Allergies

Hay fever

Eczema

Contact dermatitis

Fatigue

Smoking and drinking alcohol

Frequent rubbing of the eyes

Sunlight exposure

Darker skin tone or a family history increases your chances of developing dark circles.

Dermapen Treatments™ for Dark Circles

If you want your under-eye bags to disappear and stay gone, try microneedling with Dermapen. The incredibly fine needles create flawless micro-injuries to boost the production of collagen for months to come.

If the thought of needles near your eyes alarms you, you can relax—the needle depth and speed are adjusted for delicate areas. And while your Authorised Treatment Provider will safely microneedle around the outer eye area, the entire region benefits from the collagen-boosting effect. As a bonus, you can expect a significant reduction in fine lines too. Bye-bye crow’s feet! 👏👏👏

Complete Guide to Younger-Looking Eyes

Are you looking to have younger looking eyes?

Have you ever pulled back the skin next to your eyes, wondering how much younger you would look without crow’s feet or puffy dark circles?

We’ve got good news. There’s no need for surgery to lift and brighten the eyes.

But first, why do our eyes age so quickly?

The skin that surrounds the eyes is different from the rest of our skin. Its delicate nature makes it even more prone to wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles.

Unfortunately, this very same delicacy leads to sensitivity, which is why you can’t rely on the same skincare used on the rest of the face.

If your patients have started to notice fine lines develop, rest assured there are potent active ingredients and non-invasive procedures that can help tighten the skin around and under the eyes.

Reveal the secrets to younger-looking eyes with our complete eye care guide.

Brighten & tighten skin under eyes without surgery

Part of what makes your eyes so engaging is how they convey expression, whether that’s a friendly laugh or icy glare. Unfortunately, this activity depletes collagen stores and can prematurely age your eyes.

Fine lines and eye wrinkles (also known as crow’s feet), eye puffiness, and dark circles under your eyes are common complaints.

We’re here to share with you exactly what can be done to brighten dark circles, smooth fine lines, and calm puffiness for beautifully brilliant eyes.

Take Action Early for Younger Looking Eyes

The earlier you give your eyes the love and special care they deserve, the greater your results will be. Just like most things, it’s a case of prevention being better than cure.

If fine lines have already started to appear, don’t fret, simply follow our guide to brighten and tighten the skin under your eyes starting today.

Gentle Eye Makeup Removal

The first step in any skincare routine is to gently wipe off any makeup, sunscreen, or build-up from the day. Handle with care when removing eye makeup, as aggressive rubbing stretches your skin and leads to eye wrinkles.

TRI-PHASE CLEANSER is gentle enough to use on your eyes every day. After applying to your dry face, add water and feel how it transforms into a milky consistency that easily washes off. No rubbing or scrubbing required.

Lightly Massage in Eye Serum

You want to be targeting your eye-specific concerns with a daily serum. From a texture perspective, you need something thin and easily spreadable but that won’t slip off the skin.

Anti-ageing eye serums contain potent ingredients selected for effective eye rejuvenation. They’re thinner than a cream, and your skin can absorb them more easily. Apply in small dots along the orbital area from the corner of the eye to brow bone, avoiding your eyelid and your eye. Dab it in until completely absorbed using your ring finger for the lightest touch. Then repeat the process with a specialty anti-ageing eye cream.

R.E.R. (RAPID EYE RESTORE) EYE SERUM contains a potent time-released form of Vitamin A — Retinaldehyde — boosted by Bakuchiol for intense rejuvenation. These potent ingredients are tolerated in the sensitive eye area thanks to the refreshing HylaFuse HA delivery system.

This eye-lifting serum comes in a rollerball pen dispenser offering you the added benefit of lymphatic drainage massage upon application to improve blood circulation to the area. The result is improved skin density, lighter skin, and an overall anti-ageing effect.

CBD R.E.R. EYE CREAM is an anti-ageing eye cream that visibly lessens the appearance of eye wrinkles, eye puffiness and dark circles under eyes. Fatigued eyes are comforted, cooled and revived. The rejuvenating CBD isolate, as well as potent anti-inflammatories and antioxidants (Vitamin C, Camellia Sinensis, Argania Spinosa Callus Culture Extract), are effectively delivered to optimal skin layers thanks to dual Calphasomes and HylaFuse delivery systems.

Cover Up Problem Zones

Like all good things, reducing crow’s feet, dark circles and eye puffiness takes time and regular application. If you’ve had a late night at work or the baby has kept you up until the wee hours, you want to have a handy cover product that will actively improve the tell-tale signs of fatigue or ageing.

COVER RECOVER offers peppermint-fresh protection, recovery and camouflage all in one genius product. The Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide provide an organic physical SPF barrier, while Copper Peptides boost collagen and Vitamins A, C & E rebalance and normalise the skin. Available in 11 shades that miraculously blend to suit all skin tones and colours, it’s your go-to cover for daily wear.

Nourish Eyes with Regular Masks

Treat your hard-working eyes to masks just like you would the rest of your face. Rubbing your eyes can stretch out the skin and encourage premature ageing and dark circles, so when you feel the itch grab an eye mask instead.

R.E.R. EYE MASK is your must-have mask for intense hydration around the eyes. Each mask is shaped to perfectly hug the contours of the region, soaking that delicate skin in a cocktail of rejuvenating HA, Retinyl Palmitate, and Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate. (Don’t let that long name put you off, it relaxes the underlying muscles in the facial area to smooth and prevent wrinkles from within. Genius!)

COVER RECOVER BLENDERS can be popped in the freezer and placed over eyes for instant coolness. This is our secret hack to refreshed eyes so you can resist the itch! Whenever you feel the urge to rub your tired or irritated eyes, grab your icy masks, lean back and relax for a few moments until the urge has passed.

Pack Your Sunnies

Regularly wearing sunglasses has a multitude of benefits. This fashion accessory helps you avoid squinting, which can lead to deeper eye wrinkles over time and protects your eyes from harmful UV rays. They also minimise your risk of dark circles forming under eyes due to UV-induced pigmentation.

Why Eyes Age Easily

The skin that surrounds your eyes is different from the rest of your skin. Its delicate nature makes it prone to wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles. Unfortunately, this very same delicacy leads to sensitivity, which is why you can’t rely on the same skincare you use on your face.

The simple act of blinking, which we all do thousands upon thousands of times a day, eventually takes its toll on the fragile skin.

There’s another structural difference in the skin around eyes. It lacks oil (sebaceous) glands and, as a result, dehydrates more easily. Dry skin is more likely to wrinkle, so you need to make a conscious effort to replenish the moisture stores with an anti-ageing eye cream or serum.

Common Cosmetic Eye Concerns

Eye Wrinkles, Fine Lines & Crow’s Feet

As we age, our skin begins to produce less collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for giving our skin its structure, suppleness, and smooth texture. This natural process is sped up by several environmental factors, including:

  • Sun exposure

  • Smoking or drinking alcohol

  • Sleep deprivation

  • Dehydration

Excessive rubbing of this area also contributes to the breakdown in elasticity, resulting in an early onset of crow’s feet.

If you’re reading this after you’ve started to notice fine lines develop, rest assured there are potent active ingredients and non-invasive procedures that can help tighten the skin around and under your eyes.

Dark Circles Under Eyes

Even if you’re a pro at applying concealer, dark circles under eyes can be hard to hide. Ruining the rest of your artfully applied makeup, they can make you look tired and older than your years.

Dark circles can be the result of thinning skin. It looks dark as the blood vessels underneath are more visible. But the other culprit could be hyperpigmentation caused either by:

  • Inflammation after excessive rubbing

  • Exposure to the sun’s harmful rays

There are procedures and active ingredients that combat this troublesome feature so you can ditch the concealer and still enjoy clear eyes that pop.

Under Eye Puffiness

You might be genetically prone to eye puffiness, or perhaps fluid retention is to blame. If you’ve been indulging in salty meals, too much or too little sleep, a light massage could improve circulation, drain excess fluid and reduce undereye puffiness.

While massage, sleeping well and drinking plenty of water can help, there are also some mighty actives suitable for reducing the puffiness.

Solving Your Eye-Specific Skin Concerns

Microneedling Eye Bags

Dermapen microneedling is highly effective in improving the appearance of the skin around your eyes. The non-invasive procedure kickstarts a natural boost in collagen and elastin production which plumps the skin, improves the texture, and reduces pigmentation. The results of Dermapen microneedling eye bags are diminished pigmentationfine lines and wrinkles. As a bonus, thicker skin also helps disguise any tiny blood vessels, reducing the appearance of dark circles under your eyes.

We don’t recommend microneedling delicate skin near your eyes yourself. If you want to know more about Dermapen microneedling eyes, book a consultation with a Sole Revival at www.solerevivalperth.com

Eye Skincare Active Ingredients

Hyaluronic Acid (HA)

One of the most powerful ways to rejuvenate the eye area is with an effective humectant in your anti-ageing eye cream. These ingredients attract water molecules like a magnet, restoring hydration and plumping the skin. HA is great for this, with the potential to absorb 1000 times its weight in water. Look for a formulation that contains small enough molecules to penetrate deep into the skin.

Featured in R.E.R. EYE SERUM, CBD R.E.R. EYE CREAM, R.E.R. EYE MASK.

Vitamin A Derivatives

Also known as retinoids, these powerful actives in anti-ageing eye creams and serums stimulate collagen production to prevent or reduce the appearance of fine lines over time. However, many forms of Vitamin A are too irritating to be used on the eye area.

Retinaldehyde concentrate is a skin-compatible, active Vitamin A which when encapsulated in a superior skin delivery system is gentle enough to be used on this area, yet potent enough to reverse eye wrinkles.

Featured in R.E.R. EYE SERUM.

Retinyl Palmitate is a gentler form, which when applied to the skin is converted by enzymes into Retinol then to the active component of Retinaldehyde and Retinoic Acid — the more potent forms of Vitamin A — to aid collagen production and tighten the skin under your eyes.

Featured in R.E.R. EYE MASK.

Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate

This powerful anti-ageing agent works by relaxing underlying facial muscles that move regularly, such as in your forehead and around the eyes.

Although the name is long, the molecule is small and can penetrate easily into your skin. It’s a great alternative to invasive treatments like botulism toxin injections. It’s been used to great success in products that help reverse the visible signs of ageing, such as wrinkles and fine lines.

Featured in R.E.R. EYE MASK.

Antioxidants

Free radicals steal electrons from other molecules in your body, damaging cells in the process, and setting off a chain reaction where the molecules they’ve stolen from turn into free radicals themselves and cause more damage. UV light, smoking and pollution can all increase the amount of free radical damage to your skin.

Antioxidants donate electrons to neutralise free radicals or stop them from forming in the first place. Applying antioxidants such as Vitamin C and B3 (Niacinamide) in an anti-ageing eye cream all help keep free radicals under control for dewy fresh skin.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C firms and brightens your skin by enhancing collagen synthesis and decreasing the melanin content. Like most antioxidants, it also helps calm and hydrate skin, so it’s better able to withstand the environment’s impact on how your skin looks and feels.

Featured in CBD R.E.R. EYE CREAM.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)

Niacinamide has been clinically proven to improve the look of ageing skin and uneven tone. It’s anti-inflammatory, depigmenting, and hydrating properties make it an ideal candidate for anti-ageing skincare.

Featured in R.E.R. EYE MASK.

Peptides

If your eye wrinkles are a bit more advanced, consider adding a blast of collagen- and elastin- stimulating peptides into your eye skincare routine. Peptides are also fantastic for repairing any damage and soothing inflammation, which can improve the texture of your skin.

Featured in R.E.R. EYE MASK.

Bakuchiol

Studies have shown Bakuchiol is comparable with Retinol (Vitamin A) in action. Bakuchiol targets fine lines, wrinkles, lack of elasticity and firmness. It’s also powerful against hyperpigmentation and is gentle on your skin, perfect for sensitive areas.

Featured in R.E.R. EYE SERUM.

Caffeine

As well as a favourite pick me up in the morning, caffeine works wonders when applied topically under the eyes, making them look as bright as you feel after your morning cup of Joe. It helps constrict the blood vessels, reducing redness and dark circles.

Featured in R.E.R. EYE SERUM.

Zinc Oxide & Titanium

Dioxide

If you want to keep your eyes looking young, you need to invest in a good sunscreen. Look for one that contains the physical barriers Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide for superior protection without irritation. Investing in a tinted sunscreen helps conceal any dark circles under eyes.

Featured in COVER RECOVER.

Effective Delivery Systems

Your regular skincare products may contain many or all of these ingredients. Still, if you try to apply them near your eyes, you’ll immediately notice they’re far too aggressive for this delicate area. And while all these actives are vital for brighter younger-looking eyes, they won’t do you any good if they can’t penetrate your skin to the deeper layers.

Dp Dermaceuticals anti-ageing eye creams and serums boast superior delivery systems that encapsulate the potent actives and ensure absorption.

HylaFuse

This intelligent proprietary Hyaluronic Acid formulation consists of three weights of molecules. The smallest molecule is responsible for delivering the active deep into the skin and releasing them at an ideal level. At the same time, HylaFuse benefits an area that’s prone to dehydration with a luxurious burst of moisture for up to 8 hours after application.

Featured in R.E.R. EYE SERUM, CBD R.E.R. EYE CREAM, R.E.R. EYE MASK.

Calphasomes

This suspending agent enhances the penetration of the actives into the skin. Calphasomes work together with HylaFuse to improve the transdermal delivery of bioactive ingredients in both water- and oil-based formulas. Calphasomes also work as a barrier to the hazardous and negative effects of ultraviolet radiations from the sun.

Featured in R.E.R. EYE SERUM, CBD R.E.R. EYE CREAM.

Embrace Your Refreshed Appearance

It might make up only a small zone of your face, but the area around your eyes makes a huge impact on how you look and feel. Don’t let crow’s feet or dark puffy circles under your eyes steal the attention away from one of your main features. Incorporate some of these tips into your beauty routine, for radiant, younger-looking eyes.

Led light therapy benefits

  • welcome to the cutting edge of anti aging technology! You'll regain your youth, prevent breakouts and transform your appearance with LED Photo Therapy Mask. Phototherapy (also known as LED Therapy, photodynamic therapy and photomodulation) was originally developed by NASA to promote rapid skin healing for astronauts by reenergising the skin at the cellular level. Rejuvenate your skin with photo-modulation for just a fraction of the cost of other expensive photo treatments. The LED Photo therapy mask features 160 LED lights that emit healing blue, red and green light in 5 different intensity settings. Pamper yourself with soothing LED light that will penetrate deep beneath the skin's surface to lighten and rejuvenate your skin, reduce wrinkles and boost collagen production. LED utilises 3 specific wavelengths of red, blue and green Light Emitting Diode light therapy to improve the skin's barrier function, promote collagen production and activate colour sensitive chemicals in skin cells.

    Red LED Light ( 620 - 730 nm Wavelength )
Red light is proven to stimulate the production of collagen. Collagen is essential for repairing damaged skin tissue and improving skin texture. This leads to reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, large pores and hyperpigmentation. You will enjoy young, healthy and vibrant complexion with continued use.
    Blue LED Light ( 430 - 450 nm Wavelength )
Blue light reduces inflammation and drastically boosts skin recovery while decreasing skin oiliness by lowering excess sebum production.
    Green LED Light ( 525 - 550 nm Wavelength )
Green light reduces hyperpigmentation, discoloration, freckles, sun damage, and age spots. It lightens and reduces existing pigmentation, improves overall skin tone, and protects skin from premature discolorations without the use of harmful skin lightening
LED light therapy can be used up to 30 minutes daily, it has been demonstrated to be 100% safe and has no known side effects. LED lights do not give off harmful UV radiation or heat. LED will not damage the surface of your skin and requires no recovery time - just treat and go.
The Cosmetic Benefits Behind LED Light Therapy Include:

    • Minimises the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and crow`s feet and minimizes pores

    • Improves the tone and texture of the skin

    • Restores natural collagen production

    • Reduces melanin that causes age spots

    • Minimizes the effects of sun-damaged skin

    • Boosts moisture and circulation

    • Reduces redness, flush and other forms of skin degradation

  • Whether you’re undergoing LED light therapy to combat wrinkles, fine lines, brown spots, or to improve the appearance of your skin, it’s a safe and effective method for varying skin types.

  • *For those of you asking about the benefit of pulsing, here’s the answer: The consensus in the scientific research agrees that delivering the light energy in a pulsed manner, as opposed to continuous wave delivery, allows the cells to absorb more of the energy over the treatment session. The more energy that is absorbed the better. Good LASERs deliver the energy this way but very few LED devices have a pulsing option. It is more costly and sophisticated to include pulsing so most manufacturers skip it. The pulsing in the Celluma algorithm is proprietary. However, like all aspects of Celluma, it’s not just flickering lights, it’s science based. Each wavelength is pulsing at a different frequency and is at a rate perceptible by the cells although not to the human eye. For example, the Celluma wavelengths are pulsing between 80 and 800 hertz (per second) depending on the wavelength.

Reflexology techniques to balance the mind. What is it? Why use is it?

The Brazilian Toe Massage

The Brazilian Toe Technique uses acupressure points to promote deep relaxation and activates the release of toxins. This simple method can help reduce emotional stress and imbalances, and overall physical pain and achiness. This technique also reduces side effects of chemotherapy and radiation, including restless leg syndrome, insomnia, nausea, and edema.

You use this method when you want to relax somebody. Many of my clients will recognise this technique as I almost always finish off their session with this. It balances them and leaves them very relaxed and at peace.

a)      Place thumb of right hand on underside of the person’s middle toe of the left foot, then place middle finger of the same hand on top of toe, holding lightly. At the same time, place thumb and finger of left hand similarly on their right foot. It is important that you hold the toes gently

Hold this position gently until one of the following occurs:

1)      Three minutes have elapsed

2)      Either toe jumps or twitches

3)      An even, synchronised pulse is felt under both toes. Sometimes the pulse will be felt under one toe and then the other or will be felt under both toes but not synchronised. In this case, wait until they synchronise or until the toe kicks or twitches or the three minutes have elapsed.

b)      Move thumbs to the next toe outwards toward the little toe while using your third finger, that is the next one out towards your little finger. Movements on both feet should be synchronised. Hold this position as before.

c)       Move thumbs out to the little toe while using the little fingers of each hand. Again hold this position as before.

d)      Move thumbs to toe adjacent to the big toe while using the first finger (next to the thumb). Hold as before.

e)      Move thumb to big toe while using both first and second fingers on top of toe. Hold as before.

f)       At this stage, remove hands and do not touch the person again as the body is now balanced and they will be very relaxed if not asleep.

In my experience it is seldom necessary to wait for the arbitrary three minutes as usually the pulses are felt or the twitching or kicking of the toes takes place before this time.

It is important that you do not touch the toes adjacent to the one you are holding so hold your spare fingers out of the way.

“The Brazilian toe Massage” is suitable for use on its own (very effective for calming children who have had nightmares) or at the end of a massage or reflexology treatment. If it is necessary to use this treatment to calm a very nervous person, let them rest for 15-30 minutes before beginning other treatments. Touching the body again immediately after balance has occurred will cause the system to become unbalanced again. The calming effect will then be short-lived.

How does it work?

There are two possible theories.

Firstly, Dr Fitzgerald, the originator of zone therapy, discovered that the body can be divided into ten zones (five on each side of the body) along its length, with five zones to a toe and the corresponding finger on the same side of the body.

Dr Fitzgerald stated that applying pressure to the extremities could cause anaesthesia in other parts of the zone. Holding these finger-to-toe positions possibly allows the zones to go to sleep one after the other and thereby allows the body to balance.

The other theory is related to the ancient Chinese yin-yang theory from which acupuncture and Qi Gong have their origins. According to yin-yang theory, the fingers of each hand have positive and negative charges, the first finger on the right hand being positive, then next three negative, positive and the little finger negative. On the left hand the first finger is negative and the next three positive, negative and positive,, while both the thumbs are neutral. When the hands are put together in the prayer position, the charges are all cancelled out.

Thus when we hold the toes in the manner described, we have the middle finger of the right hand negative (-) in contact with the middle toe of the left foot (+), the middle finger of the left hand (+) in contact with the middle toe of the right foot (-), which completes a circuit through the body and allows a balance to take place.

Another benefit of this technique is that after you have used it, you will feel quite relaxed yourself and after you have used it several times you will be well aware of energy flows within the body even if you have never noticed them before or have even doubted their existence.

Calm and Clear Your Rosacea

ROSACEA DERMAPEN TREATMENT

Rosacea flare-ups often start at your nose and butterfly out to your cheeks and even forehead or chin. Rosacea Dermapen Treatments™ can minimise the appearance of common symptoms and help you achieve a more even complexion.

Calm Redness – Feel Confident

There are 3 main types of rosacea that vary in symptoms from red erythema to papules and pustules and even a thickening of the skin.

While there’s no known cure for rosacea, Dermapen skin needling can successfully minimise the appearance of common symptoms by normalising the creation of blood vessels (known as angiogenesis) and releasing regulatory growth factors.

skin Needling also increase the integrity of the 2 layers of your skin (dermis and epidermis) to increase density and resiliency. Redness becomes visibly reduced and the complexion feels more balanced and less reactive.

Rosacea Dermapen Treatments

Clinical Procedure

Your first stop is a clinical consultation, where your practitioner will determine how many procedures and at what intervals you require to reduce your rosacea symptoms. The Dermapen 4 device creates flawless, virtually pain-free, micro-channels which activate the skin’s self-rejuvenation function. As your skin heals, it promotes the production of collagen to re-densify and fortify the tissue. Capillaries are strengthened and their networks more regulated for a visibly clearer and rejuvenated effect, with the appearance of redness rapidly decreasing.

To maximise your treatment results there are a few products that are recommended.

TRI-PHASE CLEANSER

Revolutionary transformation technology locks moisture into your skin while removing makeup and impurities. As water is added, it transforms on your face from balm to gel to milk. Suitable for use on normal, combination and dry skin, our gentle face cleanser reduces the visible signs of aging, pigmentation and dehydration.

What’s the best pain relief for Sciatica, lower back, hips and shoulders.

Pain relief, what are the options?

There are many options for pain relief available, you no longer have to opt for surgery or live in discomfort. Along with massage therapy, technological innovations such as ultrasound and electrical muscle stimulator (EMS) can help treat muscle pain, particularly chronic forms of muscle pain.

When I began suffering from pain in my upper and lower back, and being unable to massage myself, I starting looking into available technologies that would deliver pain relief. Two such treatments I have personally found to be very effective are ultrasound and electrical muscle stimulators.

For back, shoulder, neck and hip pain. Therepeutic massage therapy, Ayurvedic oils, hot stones, ultrasound and electrical muscle stimulation are all effective, comfortable, relaxing & non-invasive options.

Sciatica pain is one of the most common ailments that is the most debilitating and is often regarded as difficult to treat, it is a term that describes lower back pain caused by sciatic nerve issues

The sciatic nerve is a large nerve that runs from the lower back down the leg. Because of its placement at the base of the spine, this nerve can become pinched and compressed very easily. This pressure can result from a herniated disc, a bone spur or even spinal stenosis. These conditions create compression on the nerve and can lead to pain, inflammation and numbness down the leg. Luckily, it is possible to find relief with combination therapy.

Innovative Technology

These innovative machines are particularly good at this, as they are designed to temporarily block pain signals in order to provide patients with some relief. They usually consist of a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulating  device, which is connected to a certain number of pads that you place on key locations on your body to receive stimulation from the device.

This system is unique because it combines the benefits of Auto-Modulating pain relieving waves and Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS). Our Pain Therapy System offers 2 different kinds ofmassage techniquesand a total of 24 different types of stimulation.

By offering multiple forms of stimulation in a variety of frequencies, your body is less likely to adapt and quit responding to the treatment. Additionally, the Pain Therapy device has been demonstrated to provide pain relief more quickly, in as little as within 20 minutes of use.

About Botox

1. Botox doesn’t actually erase wrinkles

Since Botox is, of course, a treatment for wrinkles and fine lines, you would think that the injections would erase those unwanted imperfections.

But as it turns out, for most patients, Botox is more preventative than restorative. Its active ingredient “freezes” facial muscles to keep you from contracting them in ways that deepen lines and wrinkles.

“Any line that is present at rest, whether it is an etched in frown line, or a deep wrinkle, is not going to disappear with Botox. Botox is not an iron,” says medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatologist Dr. Estee Williams, MD.

2. It’s temporary (more temporary than I thought)

Some people think that Botox is going to be a one off treatment. But this simply isn’t true.

“The average duration for Botox for glabella [the lines between the brows], forehead, and lateral crows’ feet is approximately three to four months. And there are certain factors that may make Botox fade faster.

“Patients who exercise a lot or who are very expressive may feel that the Botox lasts closer to three months,”

3. It does hurt (for a little while, at least)

While experiences vary, most peopl find that the multiple injections are significantly more intense than the “mosquito bite” pinprick they are led to believe.  Most peopl felt pain for at least half an hour after the injections.

They were also unprepared for the sound the syringe made as it plugged its contents into their skin: like crunching boots on snow or the signature crack of bending a glow stick. (Not a sound you normally want applied to your head.) Thankfully, however, this disturbing auditory aspect lasted just a few seconds.

4. There are certain things you can’t do afterward

Your doctor will instruct you that, for the next six hours, do not to exercise, lie down, or take Ibuprofen (or any other blood-thinning medications), which could increase bruising at the injection sites. Also, Immediately after your Botox injections, keep your head level and do not bend your head forward for two hours. No heavy exercise until the next day.”

Is Botox Poisonous?

Here’s What You Need to Know

Medically reviewed by Catherine Hannan, M.D. — Written by Emily Cronkleton — Updated on May 1, 2018

What is Botox?

Botox is an injectable drug made from botulinum toxin type A. This toxin is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.

Although this is the same toxin that causes botulism — a life-threatening form of food poisoning — its effects vary according to the amount and type of exposure. For example, Botox is only injected in small, targeted doses.

When injected, Botox blocks signals from your nerves to your muscles. This prevents the targeted muscles from contracting, which can ease certain muscular conditions and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

What are the side effects to watch for?

Although Botox injections are relatively safe, minor side effects are possible. These include:

  • pain, swelling, or bruising at the injection site

  • headache

  • fever

  • chills

Some side effects are tied to the area of injection. For example, if you receive injections in the eye area, you may experience:

  • drooping eyelids

  • uneven eyebrows

  • dry eyes

  • excessive tearing

Injections around the mouth may result in a “crooked” smile or drooling.

Most side effects are usually temporary and should fade within a few days.

However, drooping eyelids, drooling, and asymmetry are all caused by the unintentional effects of the toxin on muscles surrounding the target areas of the drug, and these side effects may take several weeks to improve as the toxin wears off.

In rare cases, you may develop botulism-like symptoms. Seek immediate medical attention if you begin experiencing:

  • difficulty speaking

  • difficulty swallowing

  • difficulty breathing

  • vision problems

  • loss of bladder control

  • general weakness

  • The results of a 2015 review suggest that adverse effects may appear after the 10th or 11th injection.

  • For example, researchers in one included studyTrusted  observed 45 participants over the course of 12 years. The participants regularly received Botox injections.

During this time, 20 cases of adverse side effects were reported. These included:

    • difficulty swallowing

    • drooping eyelid

    • neck weakness

    • nausea

    • vomiting

    • blurred vision

    • general or marked weakness

    • difficulty chewing

    • hoarseness

    • edema

    • difficulty speaking

    • heart palpitations

More research is needed to understand the potential long-term effects.

personally I think that there are better options available, such as the non surgical facelift, using radio frequency technology to improve your skins elasticity.
Skin needling is also a great alternative to Botox and can not only increase your collagen production but improve your skins overall appearance, eliminating lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, acne and enlarged pores.

Nobel Prize Inspired Telomeres Innovation

Geranylgeranylisopropanol (GGP) has been shown to stabilise the Telomeres in skin cells, which assist in prolonging the life of a cell. Due to this protective role, skin barrier function, firmness and elasticity are enhanced, and the anti-ageing effect reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

The discovery of how chromosomes are protected by Telomeres was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2009.

What is skin Needling

Skin needling uses a medical device to improve the look, feel and strength of scarred, hyper-pigmented and/or ageing skin.

The treatment triggers very complex physiological processes, but the underlying principle is quite easy to understand. Put simply, skin needling utilises the body's self-healing mechanisms to strengthen the skin and enhance its appearance.

If plant-derived stem cells, which are high in antioxidants, are applied during the needling procedure, they further assist in repairing and strengthening the underlying structures of the skin by protecting and stimulating the growth of the body's own stem cells.

Your skincare professional may choose specific treatment serums and/or customise the treatment for your unique skin conditions and needs. Consult you skincare professional for a skin evaluation .

How long does the treatment take? Is there any downtime or pain involved?

The Skin needling treatment is a fast, efficient treatment, where the actual needling part of the facial takes as little as 15 minutes. You may put on make-up and return to your normal activities right after the treatment since there is little downtime.

What results may be expected? An improvement in skins elasticity, collagen and appearance.

How many treatments are needed to see results? It depends on the skin condition you are treating and the amount of damage that is there. Many people report seeing visible skin refinement and an even, radiant skin tone after just one treatment.

How can reflexology help you stay well?

‘Holistic’ – it’s a word you’ve probably heard used a lot but what does it actually mean?   The term ‘holistic’ comes from the Greek word ‘holos’ which means ‘whole’.  It’s the practice of taking the whole person into account rather than just the symptoms of a particular illness or disease.

Holistic therapies such as Reflexology are underpinned by the idea that health is the result of harmony between the body and the mind.

Therefore, you will find the focus during any holistic therapy at Sole Revival paying equal attention to how all your body systems are working together.

Stresses of any kind, be they physical, psychological, social or environmental can upset this balance and cause ‘dis-ease’. You may be experiencing a symptom in one part of your body, but the cause may originate somewhere else – in another body system.

For  example flu is doing the rounds, but not everybody will catch it.  They are all exposed to the same bug so why is that?

The answer lies in your own body, it must be the internal environment and your state of wellbeing at that moment – that’s the deciding factor in who will get flu and who won’t.

Reflexology and other holistic therapies do not see you as a collection of separate parts but as one energy system which comes complete with its own internal pharmacy. Reflexology facilitates this healing.

All your thoughts and feelings get translated into chemicals that fire off throughout your body altering the behaviour of your cells. A sad feeling will influence the cells of your tear ducts and make them produce tears and a funny joke or lovely memory will release feel-good hormones and lighten your mood.

The profoundly calm and relaxed state of being enjoyed by many during a Reflexology treatment provides the ideal conditions for the body and the mind to rebalancing and healing to take place.

As the mind quiets, chemicals are released which help to balance the digestive system, bring the heart rate down and reduce the amount of stress hormones in the body.  This in turn can help to reduce and relieve the many stress related symptoms which are responsible for the majority of visits to our GPs.

In this way, holistic therapies should not only help to alleviate stress and die-ease but done regularly can be a preventative measure in maintaining bodymind health and wellbeing. Our ability to heal is influenced by our physiological and emotional state.

For the Part can never be well, unless the whole is well….(Plato)

Reflexology has many health benefits*

  • Relaxation.

  • Improved sleep

  • Reduction in pain

  • Reduced anxiety

  • Improvement of Your Nerve Functions. ...

  • Improvement In Your Brain Power. ...

  • Increased Blood Circulation In Your Body. ...

  • Eliminating Your Body's Toxins. ...

  • Boosting Your Metabolism & Energy Level.

  • Reducing Your Headaches. ...

  • Relieving discomfort from Menstruation & Pregnancy.

Why is reflexology sometimes painful?
The underlying theory behind reflexology is that there are “reflex” areas on the feet that correspond to specific organs or parts of the body. For example:
• The tips of the toes reflect the head.
• The heart and the chest are around the ball of the foot.
• The liver, pancreas and kidneys are in the arch of the foot.
• Lower back and intestines are towards the heel.

There are more than 7000 nerve endings in the human foot, and by targeting these nerve endings, the reflexologist can assist the flow of energy through the body to the areas affected by illness or stress.

Medical or clinical reflexology is where specific thumb, finger and hand techniques are used – mostly with deep pressure – on the various congested reflex areas. This holistic approach will optimize blood, lymph and nerve flow to a specific area, thus minimizing pain as well as muscle tension and facilitating the body’s natural healing and detoxifying process.

Reflexology will often hurt when the congested reflex areas are treated. As the condition improves with several reflexology sessions, so will the soreness on the corresponding reflexes.
Pain on a specific reflex is always brief and only lasts as long as the reflexologist is applying pressure. Pain is always kept at bearable levels.

The well-trained reflexologist will adapt his pressure to the pain levels of the patient. He will also teach the patient deep breathing techniques (deep breathing releases endorphins, the body’s natural pain-killer) in order to reduce the pain sensation.

What are the benefits?
This treatment is used for a variety of ailments. Not only is it beneficial as a tool for relaxation and stress relief, but is also effective in improving circulation, relieving pain, and acts as an immune and nervous system stimulator.
Many people with illnesses such as allergies, chronic sinus problems, migraines, anxiety, depression, back pain, headaches, arthritis, digestion problems, insomnia, asthma, PMS and period pain - to name but a few - have been helped tremendously by reflexology treatments.
Most people describe a profound sense of relaxation and increased energy following their session.

What reflexology and reflexologists are not
Although reflexology is proven to be beneficial for a multitude of problems, your reflexologist cannot diagnose or claim to cure any disease. They are not medically trained. Reflexology can help to restore balance and coax your body into healing itself.

Reflexology is recommended as a complimentary therapy and should not replace medical treatment. Seek advice from your medical practitioner before making your reflexology appointment.

Skin Needling: how to prepare for the treatment

What to expect when you choose skin needling

Q: What does the treatment involve?

SR: Skin Needling is performed using the world renowned trademarked Dermapen.

The 30-60-minute treatment involves a series of micro needles penetrating the skin to create tiny puncture channels that encourage an organic collagen renewal and regeneration response.

Skin Needling benefits also include stimulation of organic collagen renewal that is perfect for people that cannot undertake laser therapy treatments for skin conditions such as acne scarring.

Q: How do clients prepare for Skin Needling?

SR: You will be asked to discontinue use of Retin A, Retinols, Vitamin A creams and other topic medications for 3-5 days before your micro needling treatment. It is required that you wear a sunscreen daily and use the appropriate home care topical products. As recommended for you by your skin therapist. Your therapist will create a tailored preparation plan based on your skin type, and the skin treatments your skin needling is targeting. For example if you are treating pigmentation and we are targeting that area, we would recommend you use a product that contains a tyrosinase inhibitor, Tyrosinase is the enzyme responsible for the first step in melanin production. It is part of a conversion process that creates the pigment (melanin) to be transported to the top layer of your skin resulting in a darkening of the skin. It is a defence mechanism against damage (imflammation, picking and UV rays to name a couple)

Adhering to your preparation plan is key to achieving optimum results from your Skin Needling treatment.

For Skin that Deserves the Best it is recommended that you invest in the non-negotiable homecare products. The Dp DermaceuticalsTM– skincare is designed to deliver optimal results before, during and post skin needling. Our products support and strengthen skin to help reduce the appearance of redness and inflammation throughout skin rejuvenation procedures. This means glowing, younger looking skin and less downtime directly following treatment and ongoing personal prescription homecare.

Q: What are the benefits of Skin Needling?

SR: Skin Needling is an extremely effective way to reverse the appearance of ageing on your skin. This treatment can also reduce the appearance of scarring, pitting, pigmentation, uneven skin tone and texture, fine lines and wrinkles – even stretch marks.

Q: Is there any downtime?

SR: In the majority of case it is minimal. Occasionally you may find someone who will undergo above average heat and redness for a period of 48hours, this is unusual but can happen. Ifyou think you may have an inflammatory body you can have a skin DNA test to determine exactly what products and treatments are recommended specifically for your unique skin.

Q: What should clients do in order to maximise their results?

SR: For the first 48 hours, it’s important to avoid excessive sun exposure, saunas and exercise.

Aftercare may require a cleanser, hydrator and correctors. Your skin therapist will advise on a tailored plan to ensure you get maximum results.

Q: How much is Skin Needling?

SR : Skin Needling for the face is currently on sale for $260 per treatment.

THE ROLE OF REFLEXOLOGY IN TREATING AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES

JAN 22 2020

Your immune system plays a key role in keeping you healthy. It safeguards your body against infections and diseases by blocking pathogens like bacteria, viruses, and parasites from entering and wreaking havoc in your body.

But what if your immune system turns on you and begins attacking your body instead? This is the reality of those who have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.

The Basics of Autoimmune Disease

A properly functioning immune system would be able to tell the difference between invaders and your body’s cells. An autoimmune disease, however, causes your immune system to mistake healthy body cells as foreign ones. Thus, it attacks your body by producing proteins called ‘autoantibodies’ that impair the body’s tissues.

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences notes that there are more than 80 types of autoimmune diseases that stem from an interplay of genetics and environment. Some of the most common ones are type 1 diabetes, lupus, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and Celiac disease. Typically, medication is prescribed to help ease the painful symptoms of an autoimmune disease. From oral medication to injections the kind of medicine depends on the condition. There’s still no cure for them, but their reaction on the immune system can be managed with immunosuppressants — medications that weaken the immune system’s activity.

Researchers still cannot pinpoint a clear reason as to what causes an autoimmune disease to develop. What’s more, Parsley Health reports that a worrying 20 million Americans currently have some form of autoimmune disease — but most don’t even know. Unexplained rashes, body aches, fatigue, and hair loss are just some subtle but common signs you may be suffering from an autoimmune disease. If these are symptoms you experience, it would be best to consult with a medical professional to check the condition of your immune system.

Reflexology’s Role in Treating Them

Tracing its roots as far back as ancient China and Egypt, the art of reflexology is a form of therapy where pressure is applied to the hands, feet, and outer ears. Reflexology has healing effects like providing deep relaxation, decreasing body pain, and strengthening nerve stimulation, which was previously shared on the Academy’s post ‘The Real Benefits of Reflexology’.  So, how can reflexology help aid those with autoimmune diseases?

Living with an autoimmune disease can be extremely stressful, as the bodies of those diagnosed will most likely be attacked by their own immune system for the rest of their lives. Fortunately, a study published in the Journal of Education and Health Promotion found that anxiety, depression, and stress in women with multiple sclerosis, an autoimmune disorder, significantly decreased thanks to reflexology treatments. This is because its relaxation techniques have the ability to release muscle pain, which has severe implications on both a person’s physical and mental health.

More than just a massage, the pressure applied to the body part touched by a reflexologist can reach different body systems, such as the digestive system, the endocrine system, the nervous system, and the circulatory system. This, in turn, can help bring balance to an immune system that’s not functioning properly. By stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system that helps calms down high-energy functions in the body, reflexology lowers the amount of stress-inducing hormones while helping the body harmonize and relax.

Although autoimmune diseases are complex conditions, the simple power of touch can make all the difference for the pain they cause.

Which Method of Hair Removal Treatment Is Right For You?

So what is the difference between IPL and SHR? IPL uses a single intense pulse of energy that is targetted at melanin, which makes it effective on dark and coarse hair. ... SHR, uses gentler pulses of energy at a higher frequency so the skin is heated gently.

While both treatments are effective in hair removal, if you’re looking for a minimal pain experience that will help you get softer finer hair growth then you should give SHR a try.

Perth’s bespoke Skin & Body Studio, Sole Revival, recently launched their package of Buy 5 get 1 FREE, available on any area. They use the latest technology and have both IPL and SHR available. Their therapist is an accredited laser technician and laser safety officer.

“ I have been visiting Sole Revival for permanent hair removal and have seen great results! I cannot speak highly enough of Jules, my first appointment was daunting but she made sure I had all the information I needed, answered my million questions and made me feel so comfortable. The care she shows her clients is amazing. Thank you Jules”

— Kerryn

“So impressed with my recent SHR (Permanent Hair Removal) experience at Sole Revival. I could not believe how totally painless it was for my full Brazillian treatment after previously having the old school hair removal in the past - this was totally revolutionary. Cannot recommend highly enough! “
